About

Tamsin Snyman is a cookbook publisher, culinary consultant, restaurant critic, author and food writer. She worked alongside her late, great mother Lannice Snyman for 16 years in the local and international food world. Following her mother’s death in 2010 Tamsin stepped in to fill her shoes and continue the Snyman family food legacy.

In addition to working along side Lannice, Tamsin formed her own business, Bay Gourmet, specialising in high-end catering and event creation for exclusive clients.

In a Food Stylist capacity, Tamsin has worked on numerous TV ads and movies to create weird and wonderful food. She has also styled 12 cookbooks.

Tamsin’s culinary consultancy sees her revamping and designing menus; she trains and upskills chefs and implements operating systems.

She was the Food Editor for Shape Magazine and is now a food writer for various publications. She has authored and self-published her own cookbooks.

Along with a tight team of top food critics, for 10 years, she ate her way around the country in preparation for the annual American Express Platinum Fine Dining Awards which she spear-headed and hosted.

Tamsin travels internationally as a food critic and is the Academy Chair for the region Africa & Indian Ocean Islands for the World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards. She is responsible for a team of 40 judges within this region, who eat out around the globe in search of culinary perfection.

She selects and writes for 12forward by White Guide – an exceptional digital restaurant guide which leads you to the world’s truly ‘food-forward’ restaurants across the globe. She is also a contributor for World of Mouth; a digital restaurant guide that captures the best of global gastronomy.

Tamsin has appeared on MasterChef Ireland as a guest judge and has appeared as a guest judge on the reality TV show, Ultimate Braai Master, in South Africa.

Tamsin lives and works in Hout Bay, Cape Town where she finds balance between running her companies Tamsin Snyman Publishers and Plant-Based Creative and spending quality time with her very busy 10-year-old daughter Trinity Gurney.
